Book Dragon Support

Something is not working, something is confusing, or Book Dragon is doing something it probably should not be doing. That is what this page is for. Before sending a message, it may be worth checking the FAQ, Known Issues, or User Guide once those sections are available, especially if the problem looks familiar or affects a feature that already has documented limitations. If the issue is new, strange, difficult to explain, or simply easier to show than to diagnose yourself, use the form below and send it along.
The more useful detail you can give us, the easier it is to understand what happened. You do not need to write a technical report, know the correct terminology, or figure out what caused the problem before contacting us. Tell us what you were trying to do, what you expected to happen, what happened instead, and anything else that seemed unusual. If the issue only happens with one particular book, edition, shared collection, or device, include that too.
What to Include
For most support requests, a short description of the problem is enough to get started. Your name is optional, but an email address is required if you would like a reply. A short subject helps identify the issue, and the main message should explain what happened in whatever terms make sense to you. If you know what you were trying to do, what you expected to happen, and what happened instead, include that information in the same message rather than worrying about filling out a technical incident report.
The support form may also ask what area of Book Dragon is involved so the report is easier to understand. That can include adding or editing books, scanning or book lookup, editions or copies, collections, shared collections, syncing, search or filtering, series, crashes or freezes, accessibility, incorrect book information, feature questions, feature suggestions, or something that does not fit neatly into any of those categories.
Device Information
A few technical details can save several rounds of follow-up when a problem depends on a particular device or software version. If you know them, include the version of Book Dragon you are using, your Apple device, and your iOS or iPadOS version. You can also tell us whether the problem happens every time, only sometimes, happened once, or is difficult to reproduce.
If the issue involves a shared collection, mention that as well. Shared-library problems can involve Apple synchronization in addition to the local Book Dragon interface, so knowing that the collection is shared can change where we begin looking.
Screenshots
Screenshots are welcome when they help explain the problem. A single image can make a layout issue, incorrect book record, duplicate edition, missing cover, or unexpected result much easier to understand than several paragraphs of description.
Before attaching a screenshot, check whether it contains anything you would rather not send, including personal information or parts of your book collection you do not want included in the support request. Please do not send an entire collection database or unrelated diagnostic files unless we specifically ask for them or provide a support export designed for that purpose.
Book Lookup Problems
If you are reporting incorrect or missing book information, include the ISBN when one is available, along with the book title and author. Tell us what information is wrong, missing, or associated with the wrong edition. Those details make it much easier to separate a scanning problem from a bad record returned by one of the metadata sources.
These reports will also become more useful as the Archive Nine metadata system develops. They can help identify bad or incomplete records without requiring access to anyone's personal Book Dragon library.
What Happens After You Send the Form
Your message is sent to Archive Nine so we can review the problem and reply to the email address you provide. Information submitted through the support form is separate from your Book Dragon collection, and sending a support request does not give Archive Nine access to the library stored in the app unless you choose to include information from it in your message or attachment.
We may ask for more information if the problem cannot be reproduced from what you send. Reports may also help us identify bugs, improve documentation, or decide which parts of Book Dragon need attention, but a support message is still correspondence from you, not permission to turn that conversation into an analytics system. If several people report the same problem, it may eventually appear on the Known Issues page so other users do not have to wonder whether they are the only person seeing it.
Feature Ideas Are Welcome Too
Support does not have to begin with something being broken. If Book Dragon almost does what you need and one change would make the difference, tell us. We cannot promise that every suggestion will become a feature, and sometimes an idea that sounds simple from the outside turns out to involve considerably more work than expected, but people who use Book Dragon regularly will eventually notice things we did not.
That kind of feedback is useful because Book Dragon is being built for people who live with books, not around an assumption that the first version of the app has already discovered every way they might want to use it.
Send Us a Message
- Forms are still being built, they should be here soon.
If Book Dragon is doing something strange, tell us what you saw. If it is doing something annoying, tell us that too. There is a good chance someone else will eventually run into the same problem, and fixing it once is considerably better than making everyone discover it independently.
